Manchester City have reportedly made a £13million bid for Liverpool defender Daniel Agger.
City are known to be keen on signing a new centre-back this summer and have previously been linked with Agger's team-mate Martin Skrtel.
But according to the Daily Mirror, City have turned their attention to Agger and failed with a £13m bid last week.
Barcelona and Real Madrid are both known to be keen on signing the 27-year-old, whose future at Anfield appears to be in doubt.
Agger was first linked with Barcelona during the January transfer window, while rivals Real Madrid have also shown interest for some time.
New Barcelona coach Tito Vilanova is keen on signing a new centre-back this summer and has been forced to look elsewhere after missing out on top target Thiago Silva, who snubbed the Catalans and joined Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month.
Athletic Bilbao midfielder Javi Martinez, who can also play in central defence, is high on Vilanova's shopping list, but a deal appears unlikely as Bilbao are refusing to budge on their £30m asking price.
According to Monday's report, Agger has already told Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers that he wants to leave the club.
City's interest would suggest Kolo Toure's time at the Etihad Stadium is coming to an end.
Weekend reports had suggested Barcelona were also considering a move for the Ivory Coast international, who is out of contract next summer.
