Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed he hopes to complete "a number of deals" as he continues to be linked with the likes of Gaston Ramirez, Joe Allen, and Clint Dempsey.
However, the Reds boss has urged fans to not believe all the speculation.
Weekend reports had claimed Liverpool are preparing to make a £16million bid for Bologna winger Gaston Ramirez, whose agent, Pablo Bentancur, last week revealed he was in England for talks with an unnamed Premier League club.
Ramirez has been on Liverpool's radar for some time, while Rodgers has already confirmed that he is interested in being reunited with Swansea midfielder Joe Allen, and is also keen on signing Fulham's Clint Dempsey.
Dempsey has not travelled to Switzerland for a pre-season tour as he looks to push through a move to Anfield (see Related Articles).
Benfica winger Nicolas Gaitan was also linked with a move to Merseyside at the weekend, while Liverpool are also thought to be ready to sell the likes of Andy Carroll and Alberto Aquilani to help finance new signings.
Rodgers is optimistic about making further additions to his squad following the recent signing of Fabio Borini, but has warned fans not to expect the club to sign all the names being linked with them.
"There's a lot of great work going on, obviously with the board and Ian Ayre in particular doing a lot of work behind the scenes," he told the club's official website.
"I've got regular contact going with our American owners and, in particular, Mike Gordon from Fenway Sports Group.
"Obviously when it's a club like Liverpool prices are always increased and so on, but I always felt it was important by the beginning of the season we could have the squad we want - and certainly by the end of the transfer window I would hope that will be the case.
"There is lots of speculation. I've seen hundreds of names linked with Liverpool and there's very few of them that were even close to coming here or even close that we have looked at.
"Unfortunately for the supporters they've got to read it and put up with it. But the message is there is a lot of work going on, on a number of deals and hopefully we can get those completed by the end of August."
