Liverpool FC keen on FC Barcelona teenager Gerard Deulofeu - report

Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing Barcelona's teenage forward Gerard Deulofeu.

18-year-old Deulofeu joined Barcelona's youth academy in 2003, aged just nine, and has already featured for the first team.

The Spain Under-19 international, who when coming through the ranks was compared with Barca star Lionel Messi, was linked with Arsenal last year prior to signing a profressional contract with the Catalans.

The Gunners' interest is believed to have cooled over the past few months, but according to The People, Liverpool and QPR are both interested in the youngster, who can play either out wide or in a central attacking role.

According to Sunday's report, Barcelona would want around £7.5million for Deulofeu, who is keen on staying at Camp Nou but is aware he may need to seek a move if he is to secure regular first-team football.

Liverpool are also thought to be closing in on the signing of Swansea midfielder Joe Allen.
