Tottenham are reportedly preparing to make a £10million move for unsettled Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge.
Sturridge is thought to be considering a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer as he believes he may have to leave the club for the sake of his international career.
The 22-year-old has become increasing frustrated at Chelsea. After being played in a wide role last season under Andre Villas-Boas, who was sacked as Blues boss at the start of March, he fell completely out of favour in the closing stages of the season under new manager Roberto Di Matteo.
Tottenham are expected to confirm the appointment of Villas-Boas as their new manager in the next 24 hours, and according to Metro, Sturridge is one of his top transfer targets.
The forward is set for showdown talks with Di Matteo in the coming days having fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.
Di Matteo preferred Fernando Torres, Didier Drogba, and Salomon Kalou in the closing stages of last season, and although the latter two have now left the club, the arrival of Eden Hazard as well as a proposed deal for Porto striker Hulk have already pushed him down the pecking order ahead of the start of the new campaign.
Sturridge, who has just twelve months remaining on his Chelsea contract, has also been linked with Arsenal, Liverpool, and former club Manchester City.
Although it is thought the player would prefer to remain in London should he leave the Champions League winners, whether he would be keen on being reunited with AVB - given that he is keen on playing in a central role - remains to be seen.
