Southampton FC want Liverpool FC target Gaston Ramirez in £12m deal

Bologna have reportedly accepted an £11.8million bid for winger Gaston Ramirez, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool, from Southampton.

Liverpool have been seen as favourites to sign the 21-year-old for some time, although the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Tottenham, have also shown interest in the highly-rated Uruguay international, who recently impressed for his country at the men’s football tournament at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Ramirez last week turned down the chance to join Tottenham, with his agent claiming Spurs were unwilling to meet his personal demands.

Bologna had insisted Ramirez would only be allowed to leave the club this summer should their £16m valuation be met.

But according to Sky Sports on Friday morning, newly-promoted Southampton have had a bid of just under £12m accepted by the Serie A side.
And Ramirez has confirmed he is ready to fly to England to complete his shock move to St Mary’s.

“Bologna will tell me on Friday if I can move,” he told Corriere dello Sport.

“The truth is that I think, yes, this time I am moving. Bologna has reached an agreement with Southampton, and there are only a few details to be found but the agreement in principle is done.”

Ramirez also admitted Southampton had offered him very good terms.

“The English club has reached an agreement with me, it is the classic offer that you cannot refuse for my life as a whole and my family,” he added.

“But they believe in me in every way, I will be essential and above all they are going to grow. Southampton is a newly promoted team in the English top-flight but they will become a big team in years to come.

“They have told me they are going to build and that is very stimulating.”
