Mesut Ozil wants to stay at Real Madrid CF for the rest of his career

Real Madrid midfielder Mesut Ozil, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool, has revealed that he wants to stay at the Bernabeu for the rest of his career.

Ozil has been linked with a move to the Premier League on several occasions over the past two years, with Manchester United believed to have shown interest last summer and also twelve months earlier prior to his move to the Spanish capital from Werder Bremen.

Last month it was reported that Liverpool director of football, Damien Comolli, was keeping an eye on developments in Spain ahead of a possible summer bid after Ozil was warned by coach Jose Mourinho that he will be offloaded unless he becomes more consistent in the second half of the season.

But the Germany international has no plans to leave the La Liga leaders, telling Kicker: "I want to end my active career at Real Madrid."

The 23-year-old also went on to praise Mourinho, who has come in for criticism in recent weeks.

"He talks to me a lot and is always very supportive," Ozil continued.

"He gives me the feeling that I'm an important player for Madrid.

"I am very grateful for the faith he shows in me. I need that affection in order to be at my very best."
