AC Milan are reportedly ready to enter the race to sign Robin van Persie - but Manchester United are odds-on favourites to sign the Arsenal captain.
Italian champions Juventus, along with Manchester City and Manchester United, are widely seen as frontrunners in the race to sign Van Persie, who is out of contract at the end of next season and recently announced he does not plan to sign a new deal at Emirates Stadium.
But Milan are believed to have been showing interest for some time, and according to Corriere dello Sport, vice-president Adriano Galliani is keen on luring the Netherlands international to the San Siro.
Speaking back in February, Galliani had stated his admiration for the 28-year-old following Milan's 4-0 win over the Gunners in the Champions League.
"Perhaps the victory was facilitated somewhat by the inferiority of Arsenal, but I saw a fantastic player for Arsenal in Robin van Persie, who I like very much," he had said.
"I follow English football and Van Persie, I believe, is a fantastic player."
Newspaper reports on Thursday morning suggested Man Utd are confident of winning the race to sign Van Persie (see Related Articles), and on Thursday afternoon, United emerged as odds-on favourites to sign the Dutchman, leapfrogging Man City in the betting for the first time this month.
City remain second favourites to sign Van Persie this summer at time of writing according to Ladbrokes, ahead of Juventus and Milan.
Barcelona and Real Madrid have also shown interest in Van Persie.
