Sao Paulo insist Inter have not agreed fee for Man Utd target Lucas Moura

Manchester United have been given a boost in their pursuit of Lucas Moura after Sao Paulo dismissed reports that a fee with Inter Milan had been agreed.

Reports in Italy had claimed Inter were closing in on the 19-year-old after agreeing a fee with the South Americans and that a deal was set to go through providing personal terms could be agreed.

But Sao Paulo vice-president Joao Paulo de Jesus Lopes insists the Italians have not been in contact regarding the brilliant Brazilian, who is currently in England at the Olympic Games.

Speaking to Lancenet, Lopes said of the reports: "I'm not aware of this information.

"I was with [Sao Paulo president] Juvenal Juvenicio yesterday and today.

"We sat only to negotiate with Manchester United, but their offer was not good enough."

Inter president Massimo Moratti had on Thursday insisted he was still keen on signing Moura, but had hinted he was unwilling to meet Sao Paulo's valuation.

Inter sporting director Marco Branca is currently in Brazil, and Moratti on Thursday had told Sky Sport 24: "Holding an interest doesn't mean you're willing to accept certain terms.

"Branca's not there to finalise anything. The situation is ongoing. We'll see."

Real Madrid are also keen on the playmaker, who recently announced he plans to make a decision on his future at the conclusion of the Olympics.
