Manchester United new signing Shinji Kagawa believes Old Trafford and the Manchester area "is a great environment for a football player."

Kagawa has been included in United's squad for their pre-season tour of South Africa.

The Japan international only joined the club from Borussia Dortmund last month and appears to have adjusted to his new home quickly.

Writing on his official blog, the 23-year-old said: "The city and architecture is quite different from Dortmund.

"I still feel like I am a tourist; everything is new and exciting.

"Manchester is very relaxing and the time is flowing very slowly. I think this is a great environment for a football player."

Kagawa was also full of praise for his fans in Germany.

"The stadium's zealous and overwhelming atmosphere, all created by the supporters - the whole Dortmund experience will remain on my heart forever," he added.

"Because of your support and cheering, I became who I am, and I am standing where I am now."
