Joao Moutinho 'flattered' by Tottenham interest

Porto playmaker Joao Moutinho, who was linked with the likes of Barcelona and Manchester United during the summer transfer window, has admitted he was "flattered" by the interest shown by Tottenham.

But the Portugual international, who saw a deadline day move to White Hart Lane fall through after he failed to agree personal terms, has refused to comment on a possible move to the Premier League in 2013.

Spurs and Porto agreed a fee in the region of £22million for the 25-year-old shortly before the summer transfer window closed, but the deal failed to be completed before the August 31st deadline.

Moutinho has been keen to praise Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas, who worked with the midfielder at Porto.

But speaking to reporters, the midfielder said: "Tottenham is not in my head now, although I was flattered by the interest, especially by the coach."

He added: "Andre Villas-Boas is one of the best coaches in Europe today.

"The transfer window is closed but now I am focused on Porto and prefer not to talk about something which may or may not happen.

"Porto is a club which offers maximum stability to help me show my best level. I cannot talk about anything else until that changes."
