Chelsea FC could drop interest in £25m-rated Eden Hazard - report

Chelsea could reportedly drop their interest in Eden Hazard should they be successful with a £20million bid Willian.

A report on Saturday morning suggested Chelsea have made a £20m offer for Willian as they look to complete a deal for the Shakhtar Donetsk playmaker before the end of the month (see below).

But according to the Daily Mail, Chelsea could end negotiations to sign Hazard should they complete a deal for the Brazil international.

Reports last Tuesday had suggested that Chelsea had made a £25million bid and "provisionally agreed terms" with Hazard, who is arguably the most sought-after player in Europe.

The 21-year-old is also a target for Arsenal and Real Madrid, while a number of clubs including Barcelona, Liverpool, Manchester City, Man Utd and Tottenham are keen, along with several Serie A sides.

Lille director Jean-Michel Vandamme this week insisted no deal has been agreed with Chelsea and told reporters that Hazard will stay at the club "at least until the end of the season."

But according to the Daily Mirror, the French club are still prepared to sell the Belgium international providing they receive an offer of at least £35m.

Other clubs will have been alerted to the news that Chelsea are seemingly set to cool their interest.

Hazard is believed to prefer a move to Real Madrid, but that is unlikely to happen this month.

But although the youngster is keen on a move to the Bernabeu, his agent recently confirmed that a move to England also appeals, and reports in midweek suggested that should Chelsea or United agree terms with Lille, Hazard would have no problem completing a move to the Premier League either this month or at the end of the season.

With Chelsea looking elsewhere, the door could have opened for United boss Sir Alex Ferguson to make his move.
