Olympic Football 2012 fixtures for Friday, August 10th

There is one game taking place today in the Men's Olympic football at London 2012, as South Korea take on Japan in the bronze medal match.

Tonight's South Korea v Japan clash at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff will see an Asian football team win an Olympic medal for the first time in 44 years.

Japan won bronze at the 1968 Games in Mexico City and will be looking to remain the region's lone nation to accomplish the feat later today.

Japan, however, may still be unhappy that they are not playing in this weekend's gold medal match.

They had taken an early lead against Mexico in their semi-final but lost the game 3-1.

Japan coach Takashi Sekizuka admitted afterwards: "We had a good start, but then stopped moving. Everyone is very disappointed."

South Korea is already assured of its best finish at the Olympics and few expected them to be challenging for a medal.

Scoring goals has been an issue, and they have somehow made it this far despite scoring just three goals in the entire tournament.

Two of those goals came in a group win over Switzerland, while their most impressive performance came in the penalty shootout win over Great Britain.

Their run came to a halt in the semi-finals as they managed just one shot on target in the 3-0 defeat to tournament favourites Brazil.
