Reading play host to Stoke this afternoon on the opening day of the 2012-13 Premier League season.

Newly-promoted Reading will make a decision on whether to include Jem Karacan (leg) in their squad.

The Royals are definitely without Jimmy Kebe (hamstring), while Jason Roberts misses the first two games of the season through suspension.

Stoke defender Robert Huth could play despite spending most of last week in hospital with viral meningitis.

The Potters have doubts over Jermaine Pennant (thigh), who will be assessed ahead of kick-off at the Madejski Stadium.
