Tottenham defender Kyle Walker would be the perfect signing for Real Madrid, according to former player Michel Salgado.

Walker has been on Real Madrid's radar for some time, and reports last month suggested coach Jose Mourinho had made the right-back one of his top defensive targets after deciding that former Liverpool defender Alvaro Arbeloa is not up to the job.

Reports in Spain claimed Mourinho was prepared to pay around £16million for the England international, who last month agreed a new contract at White Hart Lane that ties him to the club until 2017.

In recent weeks, Mourinho has been linked with a raid on former club Inter Milan for full-back Maicon.

But Salgado is not convinced by the Brazilian, and believes the Special One should still look to lure Walker to the Bernabeu.

"He [Walker] moves up the field like a bullet," Salgado told Marca.

"He is really quick and he does a lot of damage in attack, while he is better at the back. For me, he is the best, but his price could make a transfer impossible.

"Brazilian full-backs are all the same. Spectacular while moving up the field, but they create problems to any team in defence.

"It is impossible to create damage in attack and defend at the same time. You have to see what Mourinho wants."
