Sunderland have reportedly joined the race to sign Lorient striker Kevin Gameiro, who has also been linked with Arsenal and Tottenham

Sunderland are looking for a replacement for Darren Bent, who was sold to Aston Villa during the January transfer window for a club record £24million and Black Cats boss Steve Bruce sees 23-year-old Gameiro as an ideal replacement, according to The People.

But Bruce faces competition from other Premier League clubs, with north London rivals Arsenal and Spurs both keen on the Frenchman.

Gameiro has been in superb form for Lorient this season, with his goals leading to him being brought into the France national squad in recent months.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has recently sent scouts to watch the forward in action for the Ligue 1 club, while Tottenham's interest in the £12m-rated striker goes back to last summer, when Harry Redknapp was interested in signing the player.

Arsenal are seen as favourites to sign the young forward and have a good relationship with Lorient as a result of the £8m deal that saw Laurent Koscielny move from the French club to the Emirates last summer.
