Speaking ahead of the game, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said Chile international Alexis Sanchez could return to action in the crunch clash against Manchester City. Sanchez has returned to his homeland to continue his rehabilitation from the hamstring injury he sustained in the 1-1 draw against Norwich at Carrow Road but is set to return to training after the trip to Villa Park. Wenger initially thought Sanchez would be out until after Christmas but has hinted that the 26-year-old could play against Manuel Pellegrini’s side. “He is back on Sunday and he trains on Monday morning at 9.30,” said Wenger. “He is running already… I sent him back to Chile, where he has been running with the physio of the national team, and we will see what kind of state he is in next week. “He may be a bit short for City, certainly, but with Alexis you never know.” The Gunners continue to have a lengthy injury list and Danny Welbeck, Jack Wilshere, Francis Coquelin, Mikel Arteta and Santi Cazorla will all miss out against Aston Villa.
