Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has been told that he “has a home” at former club Atletico Madrid.

Torres joined Chelsea at the start of 2011 for a British record transfer fee of £50million.

The Spaniard found himself in and out of the Chelsea side last season, with manager Jose Mourinho opting to rotate the club’s record signing with Samuel Eto’o.

Eto’o and fellow forward Demba Ba have both left Chelsea, but with Diego Costa recently joining the club from Atletico, and Didier Drogba returning to Stamford Bridge on Friday, doubts about Torres’ future with the Blues continue.

And Atletico president Enrique Cerezo has told the 30-year-old that he would be welcome back at the club for a second spell.

“We can’t talk about Torres,” Cerezo said.

“He’s in another team at the moment.”

But he added: “All Atleticos know that Torres has a home here.

“We expect some new signings, but we are not in a hurry. Of course regarding the offensive line: who makes the goals? The technical board is working on two signings.”

Torres has also been linked with Inter Milan in recent weeks.
