Man Utd target Arturo Vidal will need to submit transfer request if he wants to leave Juventus FC

Arturo Vidal, who been linked with a move to Manchester United has been told to hand in a transfer request if he wants to leave Juventus this summer.

Vidal was linked with United throughout the January transfer window and new manager Louis van Gaal is still believed to be keen on signing the Chile international.

But according to reports in Italy and Spain, Liverpool are also showing interest in the 27-year-old.

Vidal was on Monday expected to hold talks with Juve officials about his future at the club, and Juventus director Giuseppe Marotta, who last week insisted the midfielder will not be sold this summer, has said the club will only consider a sale should a transfer request be submitted.

“We have clear ideas,” he told Sky Italia.

“We renewed [Vidal’s] contract a few months ago just because we knew we could count on an important element.

“We don’t want to sell Vidal. There are only rumors because he is a player among the best in the world. We never activated a clause to try and sell him – if he doesn’t show an intention to leave, our position won’t change.”

Last Thursday, Vidal said he was unsure whether he would remain with Juventus for the 2014/15 campaign, although he did rule out moving to Manchester.

However, bookmakers 888Sport still make the Red Devils 11/10 favourites to sign Vidal at time of writing in their Arturo Vidal Next Club market, ahead of Liverpool who are out at 6/1.
