Radamel Falcao to make comeback from injury this weekend

Monaco striker Radamel Falcao, who has been linked with the likes of Chelsea and more recently Real Madrid, is set to make his long-awaited comeback from injury this weekend. Falcao was widely believed to be Chelsea’s top transfer target before he left Atletico Madrid last summer and signed for Monaco in a €60million deal. Blues boss Jose Mourinho was rumoured to be weighing up a bid for the Colombia international, who is on his way back from a knee ligament injury, during the January transfer window, and reports in Spain have suggested the Portuguese remains interested in signing the 28-year-old, despite the recent capture of Diego Costa. Real Madrid have also been linked with Falcao, who missed the second half of last season as well as the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, and are believed to be keen on luring him back to the Spanish capital. The 28-year-old is now looking to make his return in time for the start of the 2014/15 Ligue 1 campaign, and Monaco coach Leonardo Jardim believes the forward may feature at this weekend’s Emirates Cup at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium. Jardim told L’Equipe: “I think he will be able to start playing again at the Emirates Cup. He is now in the final phase of his recuperation.” Of reports linking Falcao with a move to Real Madrid, he added: “For now, he is a Monaco player and I am counting on him.” A move to Real would see Falcao reunited with James Rodriguez, who recently moved to the Bernabeu from Monaco.
