2010 Roland Garros - Rafael Nadal wins the French Open

Crunch Sports Staff - 6 Jun 2010

Straight sets victory over Robin Soderling.

Rafael Nadal has won his 5th French Open title as he defeated Robin Soderling in the final on Sunday 6-4, 6-2, 6-4.  Nadal never allowed Soderling to really get into the match as he often played incredible defence and won several long rallies.

With the win Nadal regains the title he lost last year and takes down his 7th Grand Slam title overall.

Nadal never lost a set during the entire Roland Garros tournament this year and only lost two sets during the entire clay court season as he won Monte Carlo, Rome, Madrid, and now the Paris slam.

For Soderling it is the second year in a row that he has lost in the final of the clay court slam although he was not given much of a chance to win either match.

Nadal is currently the second favorite for Wimbledon and should he remain healthy, he may prove himself to be the favorite when the All England Club's final is played in early July.
