John Isner takes on Andy Roddick tonight in the semi-finals of the Atlanta Tennis Championships (00:00 BST start).

Isner saw off young wildcard Jack Sock 7-6 6-4 on Friday night in a tough quarter-final tie, with Sock showing all the potential he has.

Isner led 4-1 in the opening set before the rain fell, and surprisingly it was the experienced top seed who was affected more by the delay. Sock hit back, troubling the big man with his persistent drop shots and occasional vicious forehand winners, but crucially he double faulted twice in the tie-break and Isner took full advantage.

Roddick eased past Michael Russell 6-3 6-4 in his quarter-final tie and knowing how much Isner hates the humidity in Atlanta, he will be hoping to try and drag him into a slugfest and keep him out there.

Roddick's performance against Russell boded well for his chances as he smashed down 12 aces and won 86 per cent of his first serve points.

Prediction: Roddick in three.
