Article recaps the championship match between Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer at the Dubai Tennis Championships.
Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic played in the championship match at the Dubai Tennis Championships earlier on Saturday, a tournament that is part of the 500 series on the ATP Tour.
Djokovic had won the title last season and he defeated Federer quite easily to win the title again this year with the final score in the match 6-3, 6-3.
Djokovic had beaten Federer in the semifinals of the 2011 Australian Open but in ATP matches he had a four match losing streak going against the Swiss Maestro. That streak comes to an end however there is an upside to the tournament for Federer.
He had been idle during February 2010 and even with the loss he puts a little bit of distance between himself and Djokovic for world number two.
From Federer: “This one has been one of the rather disappointing matches for me against him. I can't play great every time...I tried tonight. Just didn't really happen for me.”
From Djokovic: “I guess I rose to the occasion. I was aware of the challenge that is expecting me on the court, and I was aware of the fact that I need to be on top of my game...Just the perfect performance overall.”
