Nicolas Almagro starts his ATP Hamburg campaign this evening as he takes on Germany's Tobias Kamke (17:30 BST start).

Almagro arrives in Hamburg fresh from reaching the Swedish Open final last weekend, where he was crused by David Ferrer for the third time this year.

The good news for him is that Ferrer has chosen to compete in Gstaad this week, and so he is one of the favourites for this ATP 500 title. He came close to winning last year, losing to Gilles Simon in three sets in the final, and if he can improve on that, the points windfall will help cement his place in the world's top ten ahead of the summer hard-court swing.

Kamke lives in Hamburg so this is his home event and he's sure to get plenty of support from the crowd. But the world No. 97 was outplayed by Juan Monaco in the second round of Stuttgart last week, and he's sure to get the same treatment again today against one of the world's best clay-courters.

Prediction: Almagro in two.
