Pablo Andujar takes on giant-killing wildcard Cedrik-Marcel Stebe in a fascinating quarter-final in Stuttgart.

It's been quite a week for wildcard Stebe, the only German left standing at the Mercedes Cup. He went into the tournament without a single ATP main tour win under his belt and one would have expected him to be a tad overawed against former world number three Davydenko in his opening match. However he showed considerable composure to defeat to hit back against the two-time Stuttgart finalist and win 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.

Stebe impressed again on Thursday, battling past Fabio Fognini 7-6, 6-4 in a match which featured 11 breaks of serve. “It’s just simply amazing, the quarter-finals here at my hometown tournament. It’s an amazing feeling to get to see all the people around you,” he said.

Andujar caused an upset himself in the last round by seeing off defending champion Albert Montanes 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 for the second time this year.

This is a fantastic opportunity for both players as the draw is now wide open and predicting a winner from here is nigh-on impossible. You have to favour the experience of Andujar who is enjoying his best season on the tour, having won the Casablanca title in April.
