Andy Murray takes on Novak Djokovic this afternoon in the semi-finals of the men's singles at the London 2012 Olympic Games (15:00 BST start).

Tim Henman and Neil Broad were the last British players to win an Olympic tennis medal back back at the 1996 Atlanta Games when they claimed silver in the men's doubles.

Murray can match their achievement if he can overcome Djokovic in front of an expectant Centre Court crowd at Wimbledon this afternoon.

The Brit has been in superb form throughout the week and delighted his fans with a convincing 6-4 6-1 quarter-final win over Spain's Nicolas Almagro on Thursday.

Djokovic had the tougher quarter-final draw but once again he stepped up to see off Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, 6-1 7-5.

Tsonga looked a little weary, but Djokovic was extremely sharp and with the grass playing a little faster than usual at the All-England club, he adapted his game and made many successful forays to the net, frustrating the Frenchman into 19 unforced errors.

He'll have to be a little more careful with that strategy against Murray, who loves a target and is one of the best counter-punchers in the game. After Djokovic's uncharacteristically lacklustre display against Roger Federer in the Wimbledon semi-finals, Murray will be hopeful but he should note that the Serb always produces his best tennis when playing for his country.

These two contested an epic duel in the Australian Open semi-finalss at the start of the year which Djokovic edged 7-5 in the fifth. Murray got revenge a month later but in the much lower key Dubai tournament.

This could be tight.

Prediction: Djokovic in three.
