Jeremy Chardy takes on German wildcard this afternoon for a place in the quarter-finals of the bet-at-home Open in Hamburg (15:00 BST start).

Ranked 483 in the world, few expected much - if anything - from Reister this week, but he produced one of the best performances of his life to stun fifth seed Fernando Verdasco 6-2 6-3 in just over an hour on Tuesday.

It has to be said that the 26-year-old is far better than his current ranking suggests and he was just inside the top 100 before injury struck. He'll be hoping he can avenge last week's 6-2 6-4 defeat to Chardy in Stuttgart, and given the confidence he'll have after a result like this, the scoreline will be surely be closer.

Chardy also enjoyed an impressive first round win, seeing off experienced Spaniard Albert Montanes, 6-4 6-2. The powerful Frenchman has a good track record on German clay, winning the Stuttgart title a few years ago and we expect him to pull through this one to set up a probable quarter-final clash with Juan Monaco.

Prediction: Chardy in two.
