Justine Henin Australian Open 2010 Performance

Crunch Sports Staff - 2 Feb 2010

Henin needs to improve before she can beat Serena Williams on hard court.

Justine Henin just missed winning the 2010 Australian Open and her coach has now said that she was not ready.

Henin enjoyed a memorable run to the final where she came up just short in three set duel with Serena Williams.

Her coach Carlos Rodriguez has said that Henin will now take a month off putting some lengthy sessions in the gym and on the training court working on elements of her game.

"We're going to stop now and work on the physical skills and more specific things in her game. Maybe take a little bit more time to find a way to manage different situations also.” Rodriguez said.

"Not only a question of technique, try to manage the emotions and the tactics to serve. I cannot say better for sure but (we need to improve) the serve and important points."

Henin admitted she had no idea what returning to the tour would feel like after quite a while out of the game. "I didn't know really what to expect. I was ready to live the best and the worst and it was all very good until the end," she said.
"I was curious about what my level would be and how I was going to deal with just the atmosphere on and off the court, how it would feel.”

Henin is next likely to compete in Indian Wells in mid-March.
