Andy Murray and Laura Robson take on top seeds Victoria Azarenka and Max Mirnyi this evening in the mixed doubles gold medal match at the London 2012 Olympic Games (approx 17:30 BST start).

Murray's chances in this one may depend on both the result and the length of singles final clash with Roger Federer, which at time of writing is just about to get started on Wimbledon's Centre Court.

Murray vs. Federer for the singles gold medal takes place over best of five sets and if it goes for the distance, you wonder how much the Scot will have left, both physically and emotionally for this one.

The British pairing have performed brilliantly so far this week, making up for Andy's disappointment of going out in the first round of the men's doubles with brother Jamie. The home crowd have certainly played their part as they've seen off three pairings, all in champions tiebreaks. They enjoyed a particularly impressive win over the Australian team of Samantha Stosur and Lleyton Hewitt in the quarter-finals - both players who have won Grand Slam doubles titles in the past.

Azarenka will be desperate for a gold medal to add to the bronze she won in the singles, and having been the best female player in the world for much of the year, she will fancy her chances in the baseline exchanges with Robson.

The Robson serve became a bit of a liability in the semi-final against the Germans Sabine Lisicki and Christopher Kas and she'll have to play the match of her life today with Mirnyi being one of the best doubles players in the world.

Prediction: Azarenka and Mirnyi to win.
