Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan take on France's Julien Benneteau and Richard Gasquet this afternoon in the semi-finals of the men's doubles at the London 2012 Olympic Games (12:30 BST start).

Four years ago, the Bryan Brothers fell at this stage to eventual champions Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka. They went on to win bronze but after dominating the doubles scene for the past decade, anything other than gold this time will simply not be good enough.

They've produced their best at exactly the right times so far this week, seeing off former Australian Open champions Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram, who ended Federer and Wawrinka's dreams of a second Olympic title in round two, 7-6 7-6 in Thursday's quarter-finals.

In French pairing Benneteau and Gasquet, they're up against two players with plenty of flair.

"I think they've played together a little bit. Two guys that we've seen a lot in the doubles and very talented," was the assessment of Bob Bryan earlier this week.

Benneteau and Gasquet have been on fire this week. They knocked out the dangerous British pair Colin Fleming and Ross Hutchins 7-5 6-3 in round one and have built on that to defeat the seventh seeds and third seeds. Janko Tipsarevic and Nenad Zimonjic were tipped for a medal at the start of the week but the French sent them tumbling 6-4 7-6.

This will be a tight semi-final, but look for the brothers to pull through.

Prediction: Bryan Brothers in three.
