Rafael Nadal and Michael Russell will meet in the first round of Wimbledon 2011 with a possible tricky match coming as early as the third round.

Rafael Nadal is the defending champion at Wimbledon 2011 as the top ranked Spaniard defeated Tomas Berdych in the championship match last season. The current world number one has a fourteen match winning streak going in the tournament having not lost a match since the 2007 event (Nadal did miss the tournament in 2009).

The men's singles draw was released on June 17th and Nadal's opening round match is against Michael Russell of the USA. Nadal promises to extend his winning streak with a victory in that match and he should also win a second round encounter against either Pablo Andujar or Ryan Sweeting.

Nadal's third round opponent could be tricky as the nearest seeded player is Canada's Milos Raonic. Raonic is a young and improving player and even though he's seeded 31st he could be viewed as a player with more potential to do some damage at the All England Club. Many think that the 20 year old has skills that are suited to grass and perhaps there could be a close contest brewing, if the two players meet.

Juan Martin Del Potro is a possible fourth round match for Nadal at Wimbledon with Tomas Berdych the player Nadal would face in the quarters if the seedings held up.

Nadal shares a semi with Scotland's Andy Murray and the eighth seeded Andy Roddick, a three time runnerup at the All England Club. Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic are on the opposite side of the draw.

The main draw for Wimbledon is scheduled to start on June 20th.
