Roger Federer vs Nikolay Davydenko ATP World Tour Finals

Davydenko has been pathetic against Federer heads up over the years.

Nikolay Davydenko has been absolutely terrible against Roger Federer over their careers.  In twelve head to head matches Davydenko, regardess of surface, has never beaten Roger Federer even one time.  In fact, Davydenko has only beaten Federer in 4 individual sets in their careers and most of those were between 2002 and 2004.

In their last 9 matches things, if they actually could, look much worse.  Federer has gone 22-1 against Davydenko in terms of sets won and lost and his inability to beat Federer is a big reason why Davydenko has never been to a Grand Slam final.

Davydenko and Federer will meet in the semifinals tomorrow at Barclay's ATP World Tour Finals and because of the one-sidedness of the head to head history, Davydenko's odds are pretty long for a player that has been playing really tough tennis lately.  Stan James have left his odds the longest so far as they have him priced at +300 (3/1).

Federer's best price that we found at this time is with Boylesports at -350 (2/7).

The interesting thing about the match and the odds is that Davydenko is playing his best tennis on tour this year right now.  He has a recent major title (Shanghai) and he has been tough in London, best featured by his gutsy performance against Nadal and his victory over Soderling.

Federer, on the other hand, is playing his worst tennis of the year right now.  He lost Basel for the first time in a long time and of course he lost to Julien Benneteau in Paris.  Federer, this time, looks ripe for the pickings for once.

With Davydenko playing at a higher than normal level and with Roger Federer not playing his best, the upset could be brewing.
