Daniela Hantuchova takes on Aleksandra Wozniak tonight in the first round of the Rogers Cup in Montreal (01:00 BST start).

Home favourite Wozniak will be greeted with a warm reception on Central Court tonight as she makes a start to her 2012 Rogers Cup campaign. The Canadian is the home nation’s best hope for success in the women’s draw, and she’ll be hoping to make the most of her place in the draw as a wildcard entrant.

Wozniak is an effective power player on her day, and she’s going to need to be firing on all cylinders in round one when she takes on world No. 35 Hantuchova.

The Slovakian has been a major force in women’s tennis for a long time, and she’s still capable of being a title contender in WTA events. She was the runner-up in Brisbane in January, and the champion in Pattaya City in February.

When these two players last met Hantuchova edged her way to a dramatic 6-4 4-6 7-5 success. Roughly three years on, it looks like we can anticipate another close match. Hantuchova is the likelier of the pairing to make it through to round two, but Wozniak should not be ruled out.
