Serena Williams takes on Angelique Kerber later today in the quarter-finals of the Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati (20:00 BST start).

Serena endured some tough moments in her third round meeting with Urszula Radwanska yesterday, but was able to bounce back from behind in both sets to claim a 6-4 6-3 victory. Williams is compiling a huge winning streak at the moment and seems to be the favourite to win this week’s event.

Perhaps inevitably, the American was asked after the match to compare Radwanska’s game with that of the Pole’s sister, Agnieszka.

"I think they're both great players, and great sisters. I absolutely love seeing another pair of sisters doing so well on the tour," she replied.

"Urszula has worked really hard, and me being a younger sister and Urszula being a younger sister too, I'm always looking for her to do well and I hope she does really well. Her game is great. What's best about her game is she's like her sister - she doesn't do anything badly. Those are always tough opponents to play."

Serena’s opponent in the quarter-finals is world No. 7 Angelique Kerber, who was also engaged in a close fought two setter yesterday, from which she emerged with a 6-4 7-6 win over Czech qualifier Andrea Hlavackova.

Williams and Kerber haven’t met competitively since 2007, leaving Williams with a 1-0 head-to-head record against the German. Kerber has improved vastly since then, but on current form, Serena appears to be almost unbeatable.

Prediction: Williams in two.
