Match-up is not finalized, but it is the most likely match-up at this point.
Serena Williams is on target for the semifinals as is Venus Williams. Since they are both in the same half of the draw at the 2010 Australian Open, they could very well face each other in the semifinal round however both have to win their quarterfinal match first.
Defending champion Serena cruised into the quarter-finals after beating Sam Stosur 6-4 6-2, while number six seed Venus beat Francesca Schiavone of Italy 3-6 6-2 6-1.
While they have played numerous times over the years, the two last met in Melbourne in 2003, when Serena was victorious against her sister in the final of the tournament.
Serena was in superb form at Rod Laver Arena against Aussie Stosur, who had strong support from the crowd.
But the number 13 seed was never really allowed to settle, as Serena dominated with her serve.
"I can't believe it. Sam beat me last time convincingly," Serena, who is now 11/8 to successfully retain her title, said after Monday's win. "I think my serve was pretty good today.
"I had to come out strong because when you are playing someone like Sam you have to play this good.
"I especially had to do that in front of this crowd or I would have been going home."
Serena will play either Victoria Azarenka or Vera Zvonareva for a place in the semi-finals.
After coming from a set down to reach the last eight, Venus Williams was optimistic of going all the way this year.
"I'm ready to go and I feel very well. I'm hitting the ball pretty good, especially against her (Schiavone) today," said Venus, who is 6/1 to win the Women's singles.
Venus will face Li in the quarter-finals.
