Tommy Haas begins his Rogers Cup campaign this afternoon when he takes on Argentina's David Nalbandian in Toronto (20:00 BST start).

Earlier in his career, Haas used to have few problems against Nalbandian and has won all three of their previous matches.

It's been an incredible year for Haas, who has climbed from outside the top 200, back into the world's top 30. He's now guaranteed a seeding for the US Open after reaching the Washington final last week and his success hasn't been restricted to one surface.

He beat Roger Federer to win the Halle title on grass in June, battled his way to the final on the clay of Hamburg last month and narrowly came up short on the Washington cement, losing in three sets to Alexandr Dolgopolov.

"Not only here, but I’ve proven [myself] a couple months ago winning a title in Halle and getting to a final in Hamburg two weeks ago and getting to a final here," Haas said last week.

"It’s been unbelievable. Obviously I’m a little bit frustrated right now still. I thought I had some chances to win this title and I really wanted it. It’s always tough to lose, even when you had a great week, but you just have to let it sink in and overall, I’m really proud to get here to a final and play really solid tennis.

"I just hope I can stay injury-free and keep going and try to keep it moving."

Look for his impressive run to continue today.
