Venus Williams takes on Sara Errani this afternoon in the third round of the 2012 Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati (19:00 BST start).

Williams has already been involved in two three setters this week at the Western and Southern Open, but has managed to pull through both, finishing surprisingly well despite her health issues.

The American’s most recent victory was a 2-6 6-3 6-2 win over South Africa’s Chanelle Scheepers.

She's one of those players who puts a lot of balls in the court and makes you play a lot of shots - I wasn't getting them in the court in the first set, but it was good to turn it around," said Williams after her comeback success.

"I don't think I was at my quickest today, but I still cover a lot of court. I'm feeling good going into tomorrow."

Williams’ next opponent is French Open runner-up and seventh seed Sara Errani. Most renowned for her clay court abilities, Errani is looking strong in Cincinnati this week and got her campaign started with a 6-4 6-4 dismissal of Daniela Hantuchova.

Williams will enter this match with a 2-0 head-to-head record against Errani, which includes a 6-3 6-1 thrashing at the London 2012 Olympic Games, in addition to a 6-3 6-2 win at last year’s Australian Open.

Errani is definitely in with a chance of beating the former world No. 1 today, but it looks like Venus will progress providing she is fully fit.

Prediction: Williams in three.
