Na Li takes on Galina Voskoboeva in a few hours time in the second round of the BNP Paribas Open.

World No. 8 Li could turn out to be a contender for the title in Indian Wells. She enters the competition with a solid 7-3 match record for 2012, and is playing some good tennis, despite failing to match her incredible Australian Open exploits of 2011 in the opening stages of this season.

She starts her campaign against Kazakhstan’s Galina Voskoboeva, who isn’t quite in the same league, but remains a handy player and has come close to taking a set from China’s No. 1 in the past.

Li currently holds a 2-0 match record against the 27-year-old, and she should extend that to 3-0 today. Voskoboeva will be looking to give it her best shot, but Li is an experienced player, and unlikely to give the underdog many chances in a tournament as significant as this one.

Prediction: Li in two.
