Petra Martic takes on Anna Tatishvili this afternoon in the second round of the 2012 Bell Challenge in Quebec City (17:30 BST start).

Seventh seed Martic got her Bell Challenge campaign underway this week with a 6-4 7-5 win over American lucky loser Jessica Pegula. The Croatian should perhaps have won by a bigger margin, but failed to defend the sole break point played against her serve.

The scoreline didn't quite reflect Martic's dominance. Seven double faults marred an otherwise solid serving display, which saw her win 86 per cent of the points played on her first serve.

Martic will now move on to a meeting with Tatishvili. A superb US Open run has done wonders for the Georgian's ranking, but this didn't kick-in in time for this event. She's unseeded despite ranking over 20 places above the Croatian.

Tatishvili was nearly brought back to earth with a bang in round one when she met Sesil Karatantcheva. The Kazakh is know to be a tough opponent, and she lived up to her reputation by taking the match to three sets. Neither player served particularly well, and it was Tatishvili's pressure on the Karatantcheva second serve that seemed to make the difference.

The match finished 7-5 1-6 6-1.

This will be the first competitive meeting between Martic and Tatishvili. The outcome isn't an easy one to predict, as the two players appear to be quite evenly matched. With a place in the quarter-finals at stake, these two players are likely to provide us with an entertaining clash regardless of the outcome.

Prediction: Martic in three.
