Marina Erakovic takes on Poland’s Urszula Radwanska this evening in the second round of the Bank of the West Classic (21:00 BST start).

Erakovic entered the Bank of the West Classic this year as the eighth seed, and she made an ideal start by cruising to a 6-2 6-2 win over Slovakian qualifier Jana Juricova.

The New Zealander isn’t expected to be a serious title contender this week, but she has got the ability to make it through to the latter stages.

Erakovic’s next match will probably be a lot tougher, as she’s been pitted against Radwanska, who despite spending her career in the shadow of her older sister has put together a 28-17 record for the season, and is building a strong reputation of her own. She’s climbed to No. 57 in the rankings this year.

Erakovic may have the psychological edge ahead of this contest, having beaten Radwanska 6-4 6-4 in the first round of the Wimbledon main draw this season. There wasn’t a huge amount to choose between the two players though, and we can anticipate a close contest when they face-off for a place in the quarter-finals later today.

Prediction: Erakovic in three.
