Wimbledon 2012 - Serena Williams sees off Victoria Azarenka to reach final

Serena Williams was in superb form on Thursday afternoon at the All-England Club as she saw off Victoria Azarenka to reach the final of Wimbledon 2012.

Serena reached her seventh Wimbledon final with a 6-3 7-6 win over the second seed and Australian Open champion.

The Serena serve is probably without doubt, the best in the history of the women's game and that shot alone played a big part in her dismantling Azarenka.

Roger Federer would be happy with 23 aces in two sets and those stats in the women's game are virtually unheard of. Serena has racked up over 80 aces so far this fortnight and Azarenka must have felt like she was facing Ivo Karlovic at times.

Credit to the Belarussian, she was completely outplayed for a set and a half without really doing too much wrong but she fought her way back into the match in the second set, retrieving an early break and then saving three break points at 3-3 to cling on to her own serve.

The tiebreak went down to the wire with Azarenka saving match point at 6-6 but Serena made no mistake when her second chance arose and she'll go into Saturday's final with Agnieszka Radwanska as hot favourite to claim a 14th Grand Slam title.

"I've been working so hard, I really wanted it," she said afterwards.

"She (Azarenka) was playing well and I got a little tight in the second set. I was looking too far in the future. I was so close, but I can't do that. I was happy to get through that second set tie-break."
