Nick Diaz takes on Carlos Condit tonight in an Interim Welterweight Championship bout at UFC 143.

Diaz goes into tonight's bout at UFC 143 as the huge favourite to be victorious at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada as he looks to put himself in line for a shot at Georges St-Pierre later this year.

Diaz has now missed out on a second title shot against GSP, who is currently rehabbing a knee injury and will get a title shot tonight against Condit, who also missed out on the chance to fight St-Pierre for the title last year.

Diaz goes into tonight's pay-per-view main event in the better form of the two fighters and is currently on an 11-fight winning streak, with his last defeat coming way back in 2007 against KJ Noons thanks to a doctor stoppage.

Before that defeat while fighting for EliteXC, he had won five in a row - although one of those was overturned when Diaz tested positive for marijuana.

Of these 16 wins, seven have been TKO victories, five submissions and four have come via decision.

The 27-year-old may find it hard to out-strike Condit, however, as the man from New Mexico has never been knocked-out. Condit has also avoided 63 per cent strikes thrown at him - the same number as Diaz.

In fact, it may be Diaz who has to worry about avoiding a KO defeat. Condit has knocked out his last three rivals, earning two Knockout of the Night accolades and one Fight of the Night in the process.

Condit also has submission skills in his arsenal, winning 13 of his 27 victories via tap out. There's not much chance he'll get Diaz on the floor, however, as he's a natural takedown avoider.

Overall, Diaz probably has too many tools for Condit and should be able to dominate the fight, especially in the latter stages where his superior cardio will be beneficial.

Prediction: Nick Diaz via TKO (R3).
