George Groves is patiently waiting for a date and a venue to confirm his shot at the WBC super middleweight title, and it is now looking increasingly likely it will take place on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather's final fight in September.

The world still awaits to see who Mayweather will fight come September time, but Groves already knows who he will be facing. The Brit is the mandatory challenger for Badou Jack's newly won WBC belt, but after striking a deal with Mayweather Promotions - who promote Jack - last month, Groves is now waiting to see where and when the fight will take place.

There have been reports that Mayweather's team would look to boost the unbeaten American's undercard in September with the Jack-Groves fight, and Jack himself has now confirmed as much.

''I think it's going to be on Floyd's undercard against George Groves.'' said Jack when asked by fighthype.com about his next opponent.

It will be Groves' third crack at a world title having lost to Carl Froch in his two previous attempts back in 2013 and 2014. Groves quickly bounced back from those defeats with a points win over Christopher Rebrasse at Wembley Arena and then with a seventh-round TKO over Denis Douglin at the Echo Arena in Liverpool just two months later.

Jack now represents the next step on the Londoner's journey and Groves' will be the first defence for Jack of his new belt. The Swedish-born super middleweight won the title with a majority decision victory over Anthony Dirrell in April and is now confident of a victory over Groves.

''I think he's a very good fighter and it's going to be an exciting fight, just like the one with Dirrell. But I think I'm an overall better fighter than he is.'' insists Jack.

''I believe in myself and in my skill set. I believe I'm going to beat him.''
