How to watch Floyd Mayweather v Conor McGregor live on television or online

Leigh Copson in Boxing 1 Aug 2017

Not lucky enough to get a ticket? Unwilling to pay a huge amount to get your hands on one? Don't worry because you will have the opportunity to watch Floyd Mayweather v Conor McGregor live on television or online – for a price of course.

Showtime Sports has confirmed that viewers in the United States will have to pay $99.95 to watch this history-making fight in High Definition on Saturday, August 26, with the price being trimmed to $89.95 for those wishing to watch in Standard Definition.

It is expected that the broadcaster will also offer a live stream of the fight for those unable to watch on television at home.

“We're not only drawing from the universe of boxing fans and the universe of MMA fans, we've actually tapped into the audience that doesn't follow either sport,” said Showtime Sports executive vice president Stephen Espinoza, who was famously on the receiving end of heavy criticism from McGregor during the press conference tour. “This is an unprecedented event.”

Fans in the United Kingdom and Ireland have also now learned which pay-per-view provider will be broadcasting the fight and it will come as no surprise that Sky Sports Box Office - traditionally the home of PPV boxing on these shores - have landed the rights to Mayweather v McGregor.

ITV Box Office had broadcast the London leg of the press conference tour, but it appears as though that decision was made in order to help their promotion of the Chris Eubank Jr v Arthur Abraham fight that was taking place at the same venue - Wembley Arena - 24 hours later.

Sky Sports Box Office will be charging UK customers £19.95 to watch Mayweather v McGregor, with Irish customers paying €24.95, and the broadcaster will be offering customers the opportunity to watch live on television or as a live stream on the internet.

“This is surely one of the most anticipated and intriguing contests we've ever seen on Sky Sports Box Office,” Sky Sports’ head of boxing Adam Smith said.

“Can the charismatic Conor McGregor, so formidable in the octagon, make the switch to the ring and create history? What will it mean for Mayweather's legacy - one of the greatest fighters of all time but coming out of retirement and facing a man at the very top of his game?

“It's set to be a huge night in Las Vegas - one you won't want to miss.”
