Pune Warriors beat Chennai Super Kings by 24 runs in Tuesday's IPL 2013 game.

Batting first after winning the toss, Pune Warriors put togther 159/5 from their 20 overs. Chennai failed to get going from the very start when they lost Anirudha Srikanth for a duck in the first over. They ended on 135/8.

It was a sizzling start from Pune, with Robin Uthappa and Aaron Finch putting on 96 for the first wicket in less than 13 overs. Finch was impressive, scoring 67 from 45 balls.

Uthappa scored 26 while Steven Smith provided a fitting cameo towards the end of the innings with a 39 runs from 16 balls.

The wicket was not a quick one and it slowed down considerably during Chennai's innings. Srikanth was given out lbw off Bhuvneshwar Kumar for a duck, while Suresh Raina followed soon after for eight, gone to the same bowler.

A third-wicket stand of 17 between Murali Vijay and S Badrinath ended when the former was caught to a leading edge.Badrinath went on to score 34 and had support from R Jadeja who made 27, but none of the batsmen managed to get going when the required rate increased.

The result almost became a certainty when skipper MS Dhoni was sent packing for 10.

Steven Smith's 39 for Pune was complemented by three catches as he took the Man of the Match award.
