Graeme McDowell, Northern Ireland
First US Open: 2005
Best Finish: 1st (2010)
World number seven Graeme McDowell heads to Congressional Country Club this week as the defending US Open champion.
The 31-year-old is in his ninth year as a professional and has six European Tour titles and one PGA Tour title to his name.
McDowell’s biggest accomplishment though has to be his victory at the US Open in 2010, which came as part of a standout year for the Portrush putter that also saw him crowned European Tour Golfer of the Year along with Germany’s Martin Kaymer.
He also made his second Ryder Cup appearance during that season and helped Europe to victory over the United Statest at Celtic Manor, while beating Tiger Woods in a play-off at the Chevron World Challenge.
McDowell was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the New Year Honours list to cap a memorable 12 months for the Northern Irishman.
