Bryant is very over-rated in the market for the MVP.
One of the most classless displays from fans in the NBA last season was when the Boston Celtic fans starting chanting "New York Knicks" as Lebron James finished his tenure with the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA second round.
However at least the Boston fans, though they had the city wrong, provided some insight as Lebron was definitely on the move.
However last season when Laker fans chanted "M-V-P" while Kobe Bryant shot free throws, all they did was show that they knew nothing about who was who in the NBA.
James won the MVP Award for the second straight year and that gives him one more than Kobe has. It's true that Kobe has more rings but it's not because he's a better player - it's because he plays for a better coach and, up until now, he has been surrounded by more talent.
This year Bryant is the favorite to win the MVP Award as Blue Square have odds on the Laker at +275 (11/4). Those odds are way too short for the Laker guard, a player who is now injury prone and whose stats are starting to trail off.
It looks like Mr. Popular has been getting his share of the bets from Laker backers that have tunnel vision but smart money should be heading toward Kevin Durant at +300 (Blue Square) or Lebron James at +450 (William Hill).
