Pacers are not competing for Jarrett Jack, they may acquire Earl Watson instead.
The Toronto Raptors look like they are going to get what they want: Jarrett Jack.
The Raptors had signed Jack to an offer sheet a short time ago but had to wait to see if the Indiana Pacers were going to match the offer that the Raptors had made. Crunch Sports has learned that instead of going for Jack the Pacers will be looking to acquire the much less talented Earl Watson, an 8 year NBA guard out of UCLA. Already a total afterthought in the Eastern Conference, the Pacers are certainly headed in the wrong direction.
Watson turned 30 years old last month and his career averages are already declining. Never much of a starter except for one year with Seattle, last year with Oklahoma City, Watson started just 18 games and his points per game average dipped to 6.6 while his assists per game dipped to 5.8. His field goal percentage was well below his career averages last year and Watson is anything but a treasured recruit.
Just to win the Eastern Conference, the Pacers are +3500 (35/1; all odds Players Only) longshots and they should be avoided in the NBA futures market as they are not showing any desire to compete.
The Raptors on the other hand, have some key players and have made some solid acquisitions of late. If you are looking for a longshot team who might offer good value, our recommendation is to pick the Raptors to win the Eastern Conference at +2500 (25/1). The management has demonstrated a desire to compete, they have a few key players that are still in their prime and improving, and they might surprise some other teams if they gel well.
At +2500 (25/1) they have to be considered good value for the time being because they do not seem to be as distant a longshot as those odds suggest.
