The Chicago Blackhawks earned their first win of the 2011 Stanley Cup playoffs on Tuesday night as they staved off elimination against the Vancouver Canucks, the top seeded team in the Western Conference.

The outcome of the game was not in serious doubt after the second period as the Blackhawks scored four goals in that frame unanswered.

The final score from the United Center was 7-2 as the Blackhawks were able to force a game five in their first round series.

Game five will come from Vancouver where the Canucks are 2-0 so far this post-season. Game time on Thursday will be at 7pm PT and it will be the Canucks' first opportunity to close the series out on home ice.
