Benjamin Corgnet, who earlier this summer claimed to have received offers from Chelsea and Liverpool, has joined Lorient from Dijon.
Corgnet, who enjoyed a superb season in Ligue 1 last year, was believed to have caught the eye of a number of clubs from across Europe, including Arsenal.
Despite the interest from the Premier League, the 25-year-old last month said he had turned down the chance to join Chelsea or Liverpool as he was holding out for a move to Lyon after stating he was "not ready to throw myself in at the deep end."
Lyon never came in for Corgnet, who until joining Dijon in 2010 was playing for amateur club Monts d'Or Azergues in the fifth division of French football.
But on Tuesday evening shortly before the French transfer window closed, Corgnet secured a move back to Ligue 1 by joining Lorient in a deal worth around €6million.
Saint-Etienne were also thought to be interested.
