FC Barcelona could sell Chelsea FC target Dani Alves this summer

Barcelona are reportedly ready to let Dani Alves leave the club this summer, putting Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain on alert.

Last week it was reported that Chelsea, along with Liverpool and Manchester United, had been alerted by the news that Barca could offload the 28-year-old at the end of the season.

Paris Saint-Germain and Anzhi Makhachkala are also thought to be keen on signing the full-back, who has insisted he wants to stay at Camp Nou until his contract runs out in 2015.

But according to Spanish pundit Guillem Balague, the Catalans are ready to cash in on Alves should their valuation be met, in order to raise additional funds for new signings.

Barca announced last month that they have a summer transfer budget of around €50million, but sell several players this summer to boost their transfer kitty.

Writing on his Sky Sports blog, Balague wrote: "Barcelona will accept a big offer for Dani Alves because they need money for a centre-back, a left-back and a striker.

"Alves is one of those players who would be difficult to replace but would generate some funds. That doesn't mean he will go but he is on the market.

"Secondly, more than height, the main problem for Barcelona - who had the best defence in La Liga remember - is to replace Xavi and Carles Puyol who can only play 30 games per season now."

Last week, Alves had told reporters: "If I did not want to stay, I would not have renewed my contract.

"My idea is to stay until the end of my contract. But the club ultimately decides."
